The Somali diaspora in Sweden and globally play an essential role in shaping the development of Somalia through investment and bringing knowledge and skills. Connect Somalia is a new initiative that will in an effective way mobilise the resources and expertise of the diaspora to drive positive change in Somalia. 

SPIDER, NomadiLab, Rinkeby Folkets Hus and SIDRA together with the Federal Ministry of Health Somalia jointly launched Connect Somalia programme which took place on 15th  March 2023 in Stockholm. The event included the Ministry of Health presenting the achievements, challenges and health care needs in Somalia, and also highlighted the extraordinary work carried out by the diaspora who have made the journey from dream to action.

Connect Somalia aims to bridge the gap between the diaspora and the local communities in Somalia. The digital portal will be developed during 2023, and the Somali diaspora is warmly welcomed to contribute to shaping the portal.
